We are seeking a dedicated and committed person to lead family support and engagement from Pre‑Prep to Prep and ongoing support from Prep to Year 2 in our diverse and complex communities. In this role, you will assist families in accessing engagement programmes, support services, and community resources while building strong connections with external stakeholders. You’ll support positive attendance, behaviour and learning while connecting families with services to remove barriers to education. Identifying and supporting families to access Early Intervention Services will be a key component of the work. About the Schools Mount Isa Central State School is dedicated to building resilient, successful, and lifelong learners. Our supportive staff provide quality learning experiences that inspire students to persevere and achieve their personal best. Through The Central Way, we foster a safe, inclusive and caring environment where students develop strong emotional and social skills. We value our partnerships with families and the wider community, working together to create meaningful learning experiences that prepare our students to become active, informed and confident citizens. Barkly Highway State School , located in Mount Isa in Queensland’s Gulf Country, is a welcoming and inclusive primary school built on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon people. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment where every child has the opportunity to achieve their best. Guided by our vision – “Every day, in every classroom, every child is learning” – we focus on fostering a culture of respect, safety and success for all members of our school community. Healy State School takes pride in providing high‑quality educational experiences and learning opportunities for every student. We are committed to fostering a supportive and engaging environment where all learners are encouraged to reach their full potential and develop the skills needed for future success. About the Role As the Family Support Coordinator you will assist the school in supporting children and families to successfully transition into school from early childhood services. You will facilitate access to learning or engagement supports to establish positive patterns of school attendance, behaviour and engagement in learning. You will link families to external government and non‑government supports and services to reduce barriers to learning for students. Experience working in a culturally responsive manner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is highly regarded. Knowledge of the region’s demographic and local service providers and agency supports would be highly regarded. Your Responsibilities Implement structured and long‑term collaboration with a diverse range of external partners to drive positive outcomes for families and children, facilitating improvement in student attendance, behaviour and engagement in learning. Work with classroom teachers, teacher aides and specialist support staff to understand the child’s needs and connect families with services such as health, therapeutic and developmental interventions to support engagement with learning. Build and sustain positive relationships and effective partnerships with students, parents, school staff, government agencies and community services, and provide expert input into decision‑making processes to ensure optimum outcomes for children and their families.
