Vacancy No: VN349 Vacancy Name: Senior Child and Family Counsellor (HSB) City: Shepparton State: Victoria Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract Duration: 12 month parental leave contract 12 month fixed term parental leave contract Shepparton location, with travel as required Competitive salary and excellent benefits package including, phone, tablet and salary packaging Part time position (0.8FTE) About the Program: The Therapeutic Services program focuses on the emotional, psychological, behavioural, and social well-being of children impacted by trauma. Our programs aim to support key relationships and systems around the child, fostering a healing environment. The Goulburn Valley region in Victoria hosts the Child Trauma Service, providing high-quality counselling and support to children, young people, and families affected by family violence, sexual abuse and/or harmful sexual behaviours. About the Position: This role provides direct therapeutic support and intervention to understand, respond to and support children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviours & experienced sexual assault. The role also has a clinical leadership focus with regard to the development and implementation of appropriate therapeutic support for children and young people within their particular care setting, including out of home care, and works closely with professionals and carers to develop trauma-informed therapeutic approaches to support children and young people. About You (Key Selection Criteria): Professional Qualifications: Have the appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline. Experience: You have substantial experience in the area of children abuse and/or working with traumatised children. Team player: Demonstrated capacity to communicate effectively and positively within a team environment and external partners and stakeholders. Experience: You are well versed in working with children and young people who display harmful sexual behaviours is preferred. You also have transferable skills to provide therapeutic counselling and support to children, young people and families using a variety of client focused, trauma informed modalities that support healing from trauma. Assessment skills: Demonstrated capacity to undertake therapeutic assessments using psychometric tools to enhance understanding, assessment and need of the child or young person. Collaborative Approach: Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively and have the capacity to negotiate and liaise with parents, carers, external stakeholders and government departments. Professionalism: An understanding of the complexity of the service system and the issues involved in providing services to statutory clients. Commitment to improving oneself: You are always open to ongoing learning and reflecting on practice. Practical requirements: A current Victorian Working with Children Check and drivers licence (or equivalent).
