Senior Electrical Engineer - Design & Construct We are an established Port Melbourne-based electrical contracting company with a team of 50 electricians and a strong reputation across Melbourne and regional Victoria. We deliver high-quality electrical services on commercial, industrial, and fit-out projects for leading builders, developers, and industrial clients. With a growing pipeline of Design & Construct projects, we are now seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the team and play a key role in expanding this division. The Role Full Time This is a technical position that covers the full project lifecycle – from initial design through to commissioning and handover. Based from our Port Melbourne office, you will collaborate closely with project managers, supervisors, and our installation teams. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Developing compliant electrical designs and detailed documentation Detailed design of switchboards, cabling, lighting, power, fire systems, earthing, and associated infrastructure Coordinating installation teams to explain designs and technical issues that arise Troubleshooting, and supporting commissioning activities Preparing and managing project documentation (Electrical Plans, power design, lighting design, cable schedules, maximum demand calculations, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, CoES, Supply applications) Producing and modifying drawings in AutoCAD and mark‑ups in Bluebeam Support in preparation & submission of power connection applications by coordinating with network distributors and electricity retailer providers and assist in application status updates. What You Bring Degree in Electrical Engineering (recognised in Australia) Demonstrated experience in electrical design, installation support, inspection, or commissioning on commercial/industrial projects Strong ability to interpret single‑line diagrams, schematics, switchboard layouts, and power/lighting plans Sound working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian standards Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Bluebeam. Excellent documentation, reporting, and communication skills Ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and clients Must hold current registration as a Building Practitioner in the Engineer - Electrical class with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), enabling issuance of Regulation 126 Certificates of Compliance under the Building Regulations 2018 for electrical engineering designs (e.g., compliant with NCC and AS/NZS 3000).
