Job Description Lead / Senior Tailings Engineer at Wood, focusing on tailings packages within a greenfield mining project. This is a 12‑month maximum term contract with the possibility of extension, ideal for an engineer looking to progress into a leadership role supporting a major client based in Brisbane. This exciting opportunity invites an experienced Tailings Engineer to join a high‑performing team and contribute to the success of a key client. In this leadership role, you will support an established team focused on FEED and execution delivery for a new engineering project. You should be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location. Expertise in tailings engineering, with advanced knowledge of engineering principles and experience delivering within a challenging multi‑discipline environment Leader of people with several years of supervisory experience, capable of engendering an entrepreneurial spirit and energising diverse teams to adopt best practice, driving optimal performance with safety at the heart of everything Professional knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and legislation, with an ability to apply technical practices, codes and standards Commercially astute with a solutions mindset, skilled in risk management during the design process consistent with safety, technical and commercial requirements Articulate communicator (written and verbal) with well‑developed technical report writing and professional presentation skills Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and commercial engineering programs Passion for energy security / transition with the vision to navigate future energy models; proven experience partnering with clients to achieve efficiency, sustainability and optimisation Customer focused, with the ability to develop trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, balancing operational excellence to contribute to the competitive advantage of the team Desirable Previous experience working in a similar client‑facing leadership role on a major long‑term Engineering Service Contract in greenfield mining.
