This role centres on supporting parents and children from birth to school age through health checks, guidance, and early intervention, while promoting wellbeing for the whole family. You’ll work closely with other health professionals, respond to diverse needs, and provide practical advice on parenting and child development, all in line with our values of respect, trust, and innovation. What you’ll be doing Providing comprehensive health services for families with children from birth to school age, focusing on health promotion, early detection, and intervention. Supporting and guiding parents on child development, behaviour, and safety, while promoting positive parenting practices. Conducting home visits and follow-up appointments in line with Maternal and Child Health guidelines, responding promptly to birth notifications. Collaborating with health professionals and community services to ensure families receive appropriate referrals and support, especially those experiencing vulnerability. Maintaining accurate records and contributing to team development, including mentoring students and participating in professional learning and parenting programmes. What you'll need to succeed Division 1 Nursing and Midwifery qualifications, Child and Family Health nursing certification, and current AHPRA registration. Victorian driver’s licence and current Working with Children Check. Strong understanding of child development, Maternal & Child Health Service standards, referral pathways, and excellent communication skills. Competence in CDIS and related systems, plus experience delivering primary health services and managing Maternal and Child Health Centres. Commitment to child safety, health and safety policies, equal opportunity, and adherence to Council and legislative requirements.
