Trainee Accountant Castle Hill

This is a fantastic opportunity to kick start your Accounting career This hands‑on position provides an excellent foundation in core accounting principles, with a primary focus on managing the Accounts Payable (A/P) function. The successful candidate will be highly accurate, detail‑oriented, and ambitious, and will report directly to the Group Accountant. Note: Success requires exceptional attention to detail, as the work directly impacts the company's financial cash flow and reporting integrity. Key Responsibilities 1. Accounts Payable Processing & Verification Invoice Processing: Receiving, sorting, and accurately performing fairly‑high volume data entry of supplier invoices into the accounting system. Coding: Ensuring accurate General Ledger (GL) expense codes are applied to all invoices for correct financial tracking. Verification: Utilising electronic document systems (Docu‑Smart) to verify that invoices match corresponding Purchase Orders (POs). Approval Compliance: Ensuring all invoices have the required departmental approvals before being scheduled for payment. Discrepancy Resolution: Resolving basic invoice discrepancies by liaising directly with internal departments and external vendors. 2. Payment Runs & Reconciliations Payment Execution: Preparing and executing weekly and monthly Accounts Payable payment runs (Electronic Transfers/EFTs). Accuracy Check: Generating and checking payment batch reports to ensure absolute precision prior to final bank submission. Reconciliations: Performing AP balance sheet and creditor reconciliations by comparing supplier statements to dealership records. Statement Matching: Accurately matching creditor statements to outstanding balances. Assistance: Assisting in the reconciliation of related inter‑departmental accounts or sub‑ledgers. 3. General Accounting Duties & Administration Reporting Support: Assisting the Group Accountant with the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports. Filing & Organisation: Maintaining neat, organised, and complete physical and electronic filing systems to ensure regulatory compliance. Data Entry: Reconciliation and exposure to petty cash claims and employee expense reports. Education: Ideally you will be currently studying or have recently completed a qualification in Accounting. Organisational Skills: Strong ability to manage volume paperwork and electronic data. Proactive Attitude: Eagerness and willingness to learn dealership operations and process flows. Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with basic accounting software and Microsoft Office suite.
