The Opportunity We’re looking for a hands-on, proactive Safety Manager for our Liquid Milk Manufacturing Site in Smeaton Grange. This role is a 6-month Fixed Term contract and is all about building and embedding a safety-first culture where everyone goes home safe, every day. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you’ll be the on-site safety leader and subject matter expert, empowering our teams, elevating systems and processes, and driving continuous improvement across the site. What You’ll Do Champion a safety-first mindset across the site Embed safety leadership and ownership at every level Develop and refine safety systems, SOPs, and risk frameworks Conduct risk assessments and lead safety training programs Partner with engineering and operations on continuous improvement & CAPEX initiatives Build capability, influence behaviours, and support operators and leaders Drive reporting, compliance and proactive safety initiatives Lead with passion, precision and purpose About You You're a safety leader who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on manufacturing environment. You think beyond compliance, and you build a safety driven culture. You influence, coach, and raise the bar. This is what your passion and experience look like Proven safety leader in FMCG/Food manufacturing with good understanding of GMP Skilled in HACCP, CIP systems, automation, and high-pressure equipment safety Strong understanding of safety systems, risk frameworks, and compliance requirements Experienced in critical controls including LOTO, HAZOP development, and incident investigation Confident leading toolbox talks, safety walks, and behavioural safety conversations across site Demonstrated ability to engage teams and embed a proactive safety culture Continuous improvement mindset with exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S Proficient in EHS systems and digital reporting (Protecht or similar), and root cause tools (5 Why, Fishbone, ICAM) Calm, confident communicator who leads by example, coaching effectively across all levels Holds qualifications in Engineering or Health, Safety & Environment If you are ready to lead safety with impact and are ready to get started?
