Infrastructure Engineer (Gateway and Network) - Fed Gov Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia PERSOL APAC Key Responsibilities Technical implementation and support of core gateway and network capabilities, including: Datacentre and Cloud network connectivity DNS and domain management Email and web proxy F5 BIG‑IP Load Balancing and Access Management Intra‑government Communication Network (ICON) Internet Gateway LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi and Security Service Edge (SSE) network technologies Monitoring and Observability tools Remote Access and Site‑to‑Site VPN solutions Maintain, monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure to ensure continuous availability, performance and security compliance. Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation and actively contribute to knowledge and skills transfer within the team. Participate in network projects from planning to deployment, ensuring solutions are delivered on time and meet technical specifications. Work in collaboration with Architecture and Cyber Security teams to: Implement solutions in line with Departmental standards and best practices. Contribute to the implementation of security compliance measures. Ensure implemented services and tools are fit for purpose and effective. Clearly communicate technical issues and concepts to both technical and non‑technical staff, ensuring implemented technical solutions align with business requirements. Qualifications & Ideal Candidate Profile Strong hands‑on experience implementing Cloud and Hybrid networking for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions, specifically utilizing cloud networking (e.g., VNETs, security groups, private links), VPN Gateway, and Application Delivery Controllers (including F5). Expert knowledge of technical network and network security concepts, including Secure Service Edge (SSE), Internet Gateways, DNS, and proxy services. Effective teamwork and collaboration skills to operate effectively in a complex and dynamic environment. Strong communication skills to build working relationships with team members, technical peers, and external vendors. Demonstrated ability to problem‑solve, apply standards and make sound technical decisions to achieve team outcomes. Strong commitment to customer service principles and practices relating to the provision of ICT services, particularly in a high‑security or government setting. Technical Skills Strong hands‑on experience implementing Cloud and Hybrid networking for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions, utilizing services such as VNETs, VPN Gateway, Security Groups, F5, and private links. Expert knowledge of technical network and network security concepts (including SSE, Internet Gateways, DNS and proxy services).
