Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit (NAHMU) NAHMU is a purpose‑built 10‑bed inpatient facility dedicated to supporting adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are navigating complex and severe mental health challenges. NAHMU provides compassionate, specialised care from the earliest stages of life through to young adulthood. Key Responsibilities As a senior Clinical Psychologist you will serve as the primary therapist and care coordinator for young people admitted to NAHMU. Your responsibilities include: delivering individual, family and group therapies; guiding the development and implementation of care plans; conducting advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic clarification and risk assessment; leading therapeutic interventions based on CBT, DBT and other evidence‑based approaches tailored to each adolescent; supervising and mentoring multidisciplinary team members; and participating in service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications Accredited post‑graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA. Substantial experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health settings, preferably inpatient, managing a caseload of moderate to high complexity including acute, resistant or comorbid psychological conditions. Advanced proficiency in psychological assessment, diagnosis, psychometric tools, risk assessment and formulation for adolescents, with competence in delivering evidence‑based therapies such as CBT, DBT, family therapy and trauma‑informed interventions. Experience in consultation, supervision and mentoring; ability to provide secondary consultation to multidisciplinary team members and lead peer supervision and case reviews. Sound clinical judgment, independence, ethical decision‑making and the ability to manage complex clinical situations, including risk, self‑harm, aggression and medication interactions in an inpatient context. Demonstrated inter‑professional collaboration with psychiatrists, nurses, allied health and external agencies; cultural competence, particularly with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander and culturally diverse adolescents. Experience in research, evaluation, policy and quality improvement; skills in audit, outcome measurement and development of clinical protocols, guidelines and in‑service education. Flexibility to work after‑hours and weekends as required, attendance at other CYF‑MH sites, and current driver’s licence for work‑related travel.
