Groundsman/Greenkeeper is responsible for the maintenance, presentation, and overall care of the private residence grounds and 9-hole golf course. This role ensures the property and playing surfaces are maintained to an acceptable standard set by the owner and turf consultant, providing an attractive and safe environment for residents and guests. Key Responsibilities Golf Course Maintenance Mow and maintain fairways, tees, greens, and roughs to the acceptable standard. All aspects of turf maintenance including pesticide and fertiliser programs. Manage irrigation system, including scheduling, repair, and water efficiency. Recommend turf renovation, topdressing and aeration. Monitor and control pests, weeds, and turf diseases in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines. Maintain and repair golf course features such as waterways, plantations, bridges and boundaries. Set up and adjust course for play, changing holes, flags, and tee positions as required. Grounds and Property Maintenance Mow lawns, trim hedges, prune trees and shrubs, and maintain garden beds around the residence. Operate and maintain garden and grounds machinery and tools safely. Monitor and control pests, weeds, and turf diseases in accordance with environmental and safety guidelines. Maintain driveways, walkways, fences, and irrigation systems across the property. Assist with landscape improvements, planting, and seasonal maintenance tasks. Ensure property is kept neat, clean, and presentable at all times. Equipment and Facilities Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on mowers, tractors, and small engines. Maintain workshop and storage areas in a safe and organized condition. Report equipment faults and arrange servicing as needed. Health, Safety, and Environmental Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE. Ensure chemical use complies with relevant regulations and best practices, including record keeping. Maintain a clean and hazard-free working environment. Qualifications and Experience Experience in greenkeeping, grounds maintenance, or turf management (essential). Knowledge of turf care practices, machinery operation, and irrigation systems. Relevant trade or horticultural qualification (Certificate III in Sports Turf Management or similar) desirable. Current driver’s licence; chemical handling certificate advantageous. Personal Attributes Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship. Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Good time management and organizational skills.
