Human Resources Officer We are seeking a passionate Human Resources Officer to join the team at Aquila Mine based in Middlemount, QLD. As the Human Resources Officer, you will report to the Human Resources Superintendent and will be responsible for providing HR support and advice across the full employment lifecycle for your designated portfolio. Company Description Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast‑furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint‑venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in Northwest Queensland and Western Australia. Key Responsibilities Assist with recruitment and onboarding activities including conducting interviews, weekly reporting and ensuring new employees have a positive onboarding experience Oversee the probationary review process, including scheduling and conducting reviews and issuing probationary review completion letters Serve as a resource for employees and managers, offering guidance and clarification on HR policies and procedures and interpretation of conditions under the contract, award and/or legislation Support payroll processing activities, including data entry, payroll adjustments, and resolving payroll‑related inquiries Assist with administrative tasks for HR team include processing purchase requisitions and invoicing Manage processes related to role changes and system updates Serve as a point of contact for walk‑in inquiries from employees, providing assistance and guidance on HR‑related matters Qualifications Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, or a related discipline (desirable) 2 years experience at HR Administrator or Offer level, ideally within mining, heavy industry or construction Resilient nature, openness for change and demonstrated ability to drive best practice Excellent time management skills, ability to meet deadlines and plan ahead Exceptional communication skills with ability to negotiate, influence and achieve stakeholder buy‑in High level problem solving skills and ability to think critically Additional Information Full‑time permanent position based at Aquila Mine, Middlemount QLD Monday to Friday staff roster (9‑day fortnight available) Competitive Salary + Annual Bonus + 12% Superannuation Residential, FIFO (company funded) & DIDO options Subsidised Anglo accommodation and company funded camp with meals provided Domestic Relocation assistance to Middlemount township Free gym and pool membership What We Offer When you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
