We enable NT, NSW and Qld Aboriginal communities and families to unlock their own children’s potential. We tailor our approach to meet local challenges and needs in communities, with local employment and staff development at the centre of our sustainability. Moriarty Foundation delivers two programs that follow the whole-of-child lifecycle from birth to 18,Indi Kindi(Early years program) andJohn Moriarty Football(Football skills mastery program). This role is with Indi Kindi. Indi Kindi provides holistic, community-driven and delivered early learning for children up to five years old, integrating Aboriginal worldviews and languages through its innovative "Walking Learning®" approach. The Indi Kindi early years program promotes educational, health, and wellbeing outcomes, where the focus is on the children’s and families’ unique strengths. Local Aboriginal educators and program mentors provide guidance and professional support to implement the “Walking Learning®” curriculum model. The program is designed around the cultural and cognitive assets of young Aboriginal learners providing a strong foundation for future learning and success. We align with The Early Years Framework for Australia. About the Job The Indi Kindi Team Mentor role is a rare opportunity to live within an Aboriginal community working alongside a team of experienced Indigenous early childhood educators to support the continuing development of the innovative Indi Kindi Program in remote Borroloola,NT. The mentor providesspecialist curriculum advice through hands-on implementation support and mentoring. This role requires the ability to build strong community connections and culturally appropriate, inclusive working relationships with families, service providers and community members. Our local Indigenous staff educator team which leads and runs the program on the ground in Borroloola, has requested this embedded support position be created to help build capacity and continue to develop Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) skills, alongside the local team’s Certificate and Diploma studies. The role is supported by the Indi Kindi Program Manager and the Program Director, both based in Sydney. Key responsibilities: Coach and mentor our community-based educator team to facilitate best possible outcomes on enrolments, program planning, evaluation, attendance, parental engagement and integrated delivery with local organisations and services. Support the implementation of an innovative and integrated curriculum approach to early learning and wellbeing. Provide specialist curriculum advice through hands-on implementation support, and mentoring. Ensure adequate scheduling, resourcing, training and provide support on local human resource matters. Liaise with local stakeholders to identify mutually beneficial ways to work together. Regularly report to the Program Manager on program delivery, budget, staff engagement and needs. About You We are looking for a positive and collaborative person who would enjoy living in remote Borroloola to play a significant role in mentoring our team. Domestic travel costs on commencement and end of contract will be provided as well as domestic travel twice a year in and out of the community to connect with family and friends. You will be staying in a modern, spacious house that is well equipped, tech-reliable, secure and comfortable. Interest to live in remote Borroloola, NT. Proven experience developing and mentoring teams Proven ability to communicate effectively and culturally sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples Demonstrated experience in understanding the issues faced by remote Aboriginal communities Commitment to transfer skills to local in-field staff with a collaborative and inclusive approach. Experience and passion for early childhood education. Proven experience with reporting and presenting documentation that captures and presents clear data and information. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt the language across different stakeholders. Current Australian driver’s license (to include license status) with the ability to drive a manual vehicle in a 4WD environment. Eligibility to receive a Northern Territory Ochre Card (Working with Children check) and National Police Check. First Aid Qualified. Desire to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and a commitment to helping create positive change amongst children in Indigenous communities. Desired Criteria: Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Early Childhood Education or Social Work, preferably in remote Aboriginal contexts. Direct experience in working with Indigenous communities, preferably in remote Aboriginal contexts. Experience working with vulnerable children and youth. Australian Permanent Resident. About Borroloola Borroloola is a remote Aboriginal community on the McArthur River, about 50 kms from the Gulf of Carpentaria in the Savanna grasslands, around 900 km from Darwin. The people of Borroloola speak Garrwa, Yanyuwa, Marra and English. English for some is their second or third language. 755 people live in Borroloola with a median age of 32 years old (Census 2021).
