We are looking for an apprentice carpenter to join our team to help construct new timber framed residential homes. The work is located mainly in the Northern Beaches and Central Coast. We are a custom construction company which is constantly growing & have been doing so for over 25 years providing the scope for future advancement within the company. We are seeking for a keen person looking to commence or recommence an apprenticeship. We cover the full aspect of the trade from subfloor stage to fix out so the scope for learning is extensive. The applicant must be willing to work with others and be open to learning/listening from others who are more experienced. We work predominately around the Northern Beaches and Central Coast. Tasks Carry out construction tasks, assembly, framed structures, fittings, single and multi-storey domestic, construction site environments. Carry out construction activity, e.g. digging footings, erecting sub-floor structures; wall and roof framing; internal and external cladding; fit-out and fixture of doors and all building hardware and fittings Use hand tools, e.g. hammers, chisels, hand saws, screwdrivers, measuring tapes and levelling devices etc. Use power tools, e.g. electric/battery drills, power saws, routers, sanders, planners, laser levelling devices, pneumatic (air) tools, e.g. nail guns Collect and assemble building supplies, clean sites Use safe and appropriate means to access (both internal and external) for building and construction sites & TAFE Follow appropriate safety practices when using ladders, other access ways, handrails, barriers, scaffolding and mechanical lifts (trained/licensed users only) Follow established policies and procedures for Protective Personal Apparel (PPE) use and the use or non-use of devices such as mobile phone in workplace and training environments. Follow appropriate manual handling techniques for manual tasks including lifting and moving items Follow safety and environmental practices for handling building products, fluids and waste products Follow written and verbal instructions in workplace and trade school settings Follow induction processes and codes of conduct. Some tasks will require moderate dexterity and moderate to high physical exertion through varied working positions, e.g. standing, kneeling, bending and overhead positions, working at heights plus digging and handling building products. Candidate Requirements Driver's licence essential and own vehicle is preferred. A white card (prior to start) Basic knowledge of hand tools Commitment and enthusiasm with a genuine interest in carpentry Physically fit and capable Successful applicants are preferred to have P.P.E. & basic hand tools (will be supplied if not) Able to travel to work sites Position is open to mature and junior applicants alike. Applicants must be at least 17 years of age to be considered for this position. Australian citizenship or permanent residency is required for this role.
