If you’re passionate about using technology and human expertise to drive meaningful change, join us in shaping the future of workplace wellbeing About the Role As our Full Stack AI Software Engineer, you’ll design, build, and scale the technology that powers Sonder’s platform, with a particular focus on incorporating AI‑driven solutions and intelligent agents into our products. You’ll work across the stack, from intuitive front‑end experiences to robust, high‑performing back‑end systems, while experimenting with and embedding AI capabilities that enhance how our members receive support. Who We’re Looking For You’re an adaptable engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and exploring new technologies. You’re equally comfortable shipping production‑ready features, improving scalability, and experimenting with AI/ML/LLM models to bring intelligent automation into products. You’re collaborative by nature and want to build technology that makes a tangible difference in people’s lives. What You’ll Be Doing End‑to‑end engineering: Build and maintain scalable features across front‑end and back‑end systems, ensuring performance, security, and reliability. AI integration: Design and implement AI‑powered features, including conversational agents, intelligent triage, and predictive systems that improve user experiences. Experimentation & prototyping: Rapidly test AI models, frameworks, and APIs to evaluate their effectiveness, and bring successful concepts into production. Collaboration: Work with product managers, designers, data scientists, and other engineers to define opportunities where AI can add value. System design & architecture: Contribute to technical discussions and help shape Sonder’s platform to support large‑scale, AI‑enabled services. Quality & reliability: Write clean, testable code, and champion secure coding, observability, and best practices in CI/CD. Knowledge sharing: Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a culture of continuous learning and improvement. What You Bring to the Team Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. 3+ years of experience in full stack software engineering, with exposure to AI/ML technologies. Strong skills in at least one front‑end framework (e.g., React, Angular, or Vue) and one back‑end framework/language (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java). Experience designing and consuming APIs (RESTful and/or GraphQL). Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and APIs (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenAI, Hugging Face, LangChain). Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern DevOps practices. Strong grasp of databases (SQL and NoSQL), distributed systems, and performance optimisation. Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a bias for action and continuous improvement. The right to work full‑time in Australia. Why Join Sonder?
