Role Overview The Optical Company is looking for an Operations Manager for NSW to be responsible for day‑to‑day ops, commercial performance and team leadership of 15 optical retail stores in NSW. This position is based in our Support Office in Surry Hills and is a key member of our leadership team About the Business The Optical Company is part of one of Australia’s largest allied health care businesses, Healthia. We have 58 optometry stores trading under well-established independent retail brands, such as The Optical Co, nib Eye Care, Kosmac & Clemens, Kevin Paisley Optometrists, Adelaide Eye Care, and Optical Warehouse. We are a fast‑growing group having recently acquired Shire Optometrists in Sydney and with ongoing plans for expansion. About the Role This position will report to the General Manager - Operations, leading operations for 15 of our NSW stores, from Sydney to the Hunter/Newcastle region. Brands included in this group are The Optical Co, nib Eye Care, Shire Optometrists, and The Eye Place. This role exists to ensure consistent delivery of operational standards, exceptional customer experience, and financial targets across the region through effective leadership. Build and retain a high performing and engaged team, working closely with store teams, Professional Services and People and Culture Teams to recruit, develop and retain talented people. Drive team capability and performance to achieve KPIs including budgets and NPS/customer satisfaction scores, meet operational and merchandising standards, and deliver on our purpose of improving our customers’ vision and confidence. Work collaboratively with the Leadership Team to implement strategic initiatives and special projects, and identify and address opportunities and challenges within the business. Seek out opportunities for growth and operational improvement by analysing performance data, in‑store activity and maintaining market awareness, partnering with the Marketing and Product teams to identify trends and improvement opportunities. About You You will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in hands‑on operations/management roles, ideally in a retail healthcare setting (optical experience will be highly regarded), with experience working in stores and also managing stores across a geographically dispersed area. Your leadership skills will be second‑to‑none, you will have experience with building and retaining successful teams, and you will be focused on team and customer engagement. You’ll need to be an adept and pragmatic problem‑solver, and comfortable with regular travel to stores in regional and metropolitan areas of NSW.
