Role Summary The Engineering Lead is responsible for leading, developing and inspiring engineering teams at Quantium. This people‑focused leadership role combines strategic thinking with strong people‑management capabilities to build high‑performing teams, foster engineering excellence, and ensure successful delivery of software solutions that enable our data science and analytics capabilities. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams including Product, Data Science, and DevOps to guide your team in delivering robust technical solutions whilst developing their capabilities and careers. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, strong communication abilities, and a passion for building and nurturing diverse, high‑performing engineering teams. How will you make an impact? Lead team planning sessions, sprint ceremonies, and retrospectives to ensure effective delivery and continuous improvement. Develop and execute individual development plans for team members, identifying growth opportunities and facilitating skill development. Oversee team performance metrics including delivery velocity, quality indicators, and engagement scores. Facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team and across the broader engineering organisation. Represent your team in cross‑functional forums, ensuring their work is visible and their contributions recognised. Conduct performance reviews and salary reviews, providing clear, constructive feedback aligned with Quantium’s values and success profiles. Lead recruitment activities including interviews, candidate assessment, and hiring decisions to build your team. Address team dynamics, resolve conflicts, and manage underperformance with care and professionalism. Partner with Engineering Managers and Leads across the organisation to share best practices and support organisational initiatives. The Superpowers You Will Bring To The Team 6+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2-3 years in people leadership roles. Proven track record of building and leading high‑performing engineering teams. Strong people‑management skills with demonstrated ability to develop talent, provide effective feedback, and manage performance. Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with ability to influence across all organisational levels. Experience managing team dynamics, resolving conflicts, and fostering inclusive team cultures. Understanding of modern software engineering practices, technologies, and development methodologies.
