The Data Centre Global Engineering Operations organisation is looking for an individual with proven leadership skills to help bring a newly developed Facilities Operations Centre (FOC) to fruition. The FOC is responsible for 24/7 monitoring of the data centre’s physical infrastructure and will serve as a facilitator for all Large Scale Events (LSEs) and Critical Site Events (CSEs). This role will also serve as a central monitoring location for facility electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring optimal customer experience through consistency, reliability, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of data centre IT infrastructure and data centre facilities infrastructure and how the two entities coexist. The successful candidate will provide assistance and support to the onsite team, help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels, and operate in a large-scale data centre environment. Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and align the FOC with the larger objectives of other business and peer organisations is essential. You will play a role in growing the team to a standard of operational excellence. We are looking for someone passionate about Customer Experience, who thinks and acts globally, and wants to contribute to the operational excellence of Amazon Data Centres. Key job responsibilities Monitor the data centre Amazon facilities infrastructure platform. Serve as a point of contact for internal and external teams. Assist with the development of communication and escalation protocols designed to improve the team’s performance. Contribute to outage post‑mortem analysis. Ensure records are updated in a timely manner. Assist with coordination and communication during emergency recovery efforts. Assist with the development of tools that will enhance the team’s performance. Support a 24/7 environment (shift work that may require weekends and holidays). Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance. Basic Qualifications 1+ years of electrical or mechanical experience. 1+ years of experience working with Building and/or Electrical Platform Management Systems. 2+ years’ experience in data centre engineering/operations. Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of data centre engineering or operations experience. Experience in supporting procedures for production or mission critical environments, including ticketing, monitoring/metrics, and troubleshooting technical issues. Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Access).
