THE ROLE Residential or relocation only - NO FIFO for this role. GMA will be prioritising applicants who have a current right to work in Australia, and do not require GMA sponsorship of a visa. Reporting to the OHS Manager, the OHS Coordinator is responsible for providing day to day high level safety health advice and assistance across the GMA Port Gregory site whilst maintaining safety management systems. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES | Health and Safety Provide high level advice to operational personnel in relation to risk and the development and implementation of appropriate controls. Ensure mine site compliance with GMA Health and Safety policies, procedures and Lifesaving Rules. Assist in the development and documentation of OHS/risk management procedures and safe operating procedures. Liaise with OHS personnel across Mining Australia to ensure alignment and consistency of processes and systems where possible. Continually review work practices and support the continuous improvement of processes and systems. Lead and facilitate significant incident investigations where required. Assist and support frontline leaders and managers in incident investigations. Attend management, safety committee and contractor meetings as required. Monitor the quality of Take 5s, JSA’s, formal risk assessments and other risk management tools and provide advice to relevant stakeholders. Liaise with the OHS Manager to ensure corporate systems, standards and reporting requirements are maintained and assist with the development, introduction and implementation of regional, corporate and global initiatives. Actively participate in formal and informal forums to increase and enhance understanding and awareness of OHS issues, trends and initiatives. Maintain PPE supply levels to ensure appropriate PPE is available to the operations. Actively ensure own health and safety and the safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations. Assist with onsite drug and alcohol testing. ESSENTIAL/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE Degree in OHS or related discipline (desirable). Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety. Certificate (Level 4) in Training and Assessment will be an added advantage. SKILLS AND SELECTION CRITERIA | ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES At least 3-5 years’ experience a safety related role, ideally in mining industry. Experience in conducting, leading and facilitating ICAM or other root cause analysis investigation processes. A sound understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirement. Proven ability to carry out projects and to effectively communicate with the project participants and stakeholders. Computer literacy using the Microsoft Office suite. Ability to work within a diverse team, approachable.
