We are currently working with a top 30 Accountancy practice who are looking to hire an experienced Bookkeeper for a part time opportunity in their office based near Ely. This role would be ideal for an experienced bookkeeper who is looking to gain large company experience while working part time. Responsibilities Maintain a high level of competence in keeping client books and records and producing accounts up to a trial balance position. Demonstrate commercial awareness and take responsibility for monitoring assignment budgets/recovery. Deal with the majority of queries, discuss these with clients and suggest sensible conclusions, while showing initiative in clearing more complex queries. Identify complex queries for referral to the assignment supervisor and provide sensible suggestions for action. Prepare VAT returns and assist more junior team members in preparing returns. Adhere to compliance procedures: follow instructions, make clear notes and follow outlined procedures. Work independently, showing self‑motivation and minimal supervision. Handle a varied workload, demonstrating flexibility in skill range. Scope assignments and identify delegation opportunities. Demonstate relevant software to new trainees. Help train junior trainees with basic job instructions. Keep the team leader informed of assignment progress and/or problems. Seek help and support with queries beyond current knowledge or competence. Pursue additional tasks to broaden knowledge and experience. Show interest in factors important to clients’ businesses. Suggest improvements to clients’ systems and procedures to the team leader. Confidently handle client queries, seeking information from clients or clients’ staff. Communicate professionally with team colleagues and be an established office team player. Qualifications AAT part or fully qualified, or qualified by experience. Good telephone manners, email communication skills and customer service levels. Excellent IT skills; knowledge of cloud‑based accountancy software is a significant advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Smart Working (see website for further details).
