Job Description This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to acquire the skills and competence to become a fully qualified Marine Engineer and be eligible to apply for work within our Fleet upon successful completion of their traineeship. What we offer On the job training while completing an Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) approved task book Complete Certificate of Competency (Engineer Class 3 Near Coastal) course at a registered training organisation (RTO). All training and associated travel and accommodation costs will be paid for by the company. Completion of relevant sea service hours (working across multiple ports) Working a 9‑day fortnight with 5 weeks annual leave Opportunity to work on a variety of vessels across QLD and NSW Key Responsibilities Participate in on‑the‑job training in areas such as vessel operations, safety protocols, and maritime regulations. Diagnose issues and devise solutions, taking an active forward‑thinking approach to overcoming obstacles. Assist in maintenance and inspection of marine equipment, ensuring adherence to industry standards. Ensure that the safety management system is followed and maintained with particular emphasis on the correct use and application of PPE, safety equipment, checklists and all other safety precautions relating to job and task performance with particular emphasis on the protection of the environment and pollution prevention. Complete all e‑learning modules as per the training matrix. Verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in using standard office software for document creation and email correspondence. Qualifications To be considered a suitable candidate for a Marine Engineer Traineeship, you must already have completed a relevant engineering trade qualification such as fitter & turner, electrical fitter, diesel fitter or equivalent, with at least 12 months work experience in the relevant trade. In addition, you will need to: Be at least 16 years of age. Pass an AMSA certificate of medical fitness and eyesight test. Have full working rights within Australia.
