The Project UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the ~140km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project. HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure. The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0. We are looking for Expressions of Interest for our Cert II in Overhead Transmission Lines traineeship program commencing January 2026 About the Program The Certificate II in Overhead Transmission Lines qualification provides employees with the skills and experience to work in the electricity supply industry (ESI) as a Transmission Line Construction Worker. The qualification you will complete covers assembling transmission structures and installing hardware. It also includes stringing transmission overhead conductors prior to being tensioned and terminated. All training is delivered on the job, allowing you to gain practical experience while learning from experienced industry professionals. This role will be based in Tarcutta, NSW and will require all employees to work on a 19 days on, 9 days off roster. Locals are highly recommended to apply. What You’ll Gain During the Traineeship A nationally recognised Certificate II in Transmission Line Construction completed over a 12-month period. High-risk work licences in dogging, rigging (basic & intermediate) and working at heights opening doors to broader career opportunities. Valuable real-world, hands‑on experience with industry-leading tools and techniques. Essential skills for a career in a growing, in‑demand industry. Full time permanent employment with UGL paying EBA rates, allowances, and penalties.
