Founded by Dr Tracy Westerman AM, a multi-award winning psychologist and Nyamal woman from the Pilbara region, Jilya is a truly grassroots organisation making significant change in Australia. At The Westerman Jilya Institute for Indigenous Mental Health, you’ll be part of a passionate team working toward healing and empowerment for future generations. About the Role As our Accountant, you will play a vital role in budgeting, payroll, financial reporting, compliance, and ensuring financial governance supports our programs and community outcomes. Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Manage accounts payable, receivable, and payroll. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and grant acquittals. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, ATO, ACNC, and funding bodies. Support audits and uphold financial governance frameworks. Qualifications & Experience Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA/CPA qualified or working towards). Experience in accounting, preferably in not-for-profit or Indigenous health/community services. Knowledge of payroll systems. Familiarity with grant reporting and NFP governance. High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and integrity. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross‑culturally. Commitment to Jilya’s values and social justice. Valid Australian driver’s licence, National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, and Bankruptcy Financial Check. Experience in Aboriginal or diverse organisations. The salary range offered is between $100,000‑$120,000 per annum plus superannuation depending on skills and experience.
