Are you an organised, proactive, and detail-driven purchaser looking to step into a role with real impact? Dunsteel Group is a long-standing, family-owned structural-steel business (est. 1954) entering an exciting growth phase. We are seeking a Purchasing Officer to take ownership of procurement activities across materials, consumables, and services that keep our operations moving. This role plays a key part in ensuring cost-effective purchasing, maintaining accurate stock data, managing supplier relationships, and supporting our operational and finance teams. What You’ll Be Doing Procurement & Purchasing Source, negotiate, and purchase goods, materials, and services. Prepare and issue purchase orders accurately and on time. Evaluate supplier proposals based on price, quality, and delivery. Maintain supplier, pricing, and product records. Ensure all procurement complies with company policies and legislation. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships. Monitor supplier performance and address delivery, cost, or quality issues. Assist with contract negotiations and ongoing contract management. Conduct supplier reviews and ensure compliance. Inventory & Logistics Coordination Maintain accurate stock levels and support timely deliveries. Monitor inventory to avoid shortages or over-stocking. Track and expedite outstanding orders. Ensure end-to-end traceability of materials across operations. Maintain accurate item codes, descriptions, and units of measure. Support stocktakes and variance reconciliation. Update stock data in ERP/MRP systems. Review invoices and resolve discrepancies. Assist with budgeting by providing accurate cost data. Prepare procurement and expenditure reports for management. Identify cost-saving and process‑improvement opportunities. Stay across market trends and supply‑chain developments. Contribute to improvements in procurement and stock‑control systems. What You’ll Bring Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management. Strong negotiation and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities. High attention to detail and accuracy. Competence with Microsoft Office and ERP/procurement systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Understanding of procurement regulations and best practice. Qualifications in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related fields. Trade background (advantageous). Experience in steel fabrication, construction, or project‑based industries.
