Are you ready to play a pivotal role in community safety during the fire season? We’re seeking an experienced and proactive Lead – Fire Prevention to drive the delivery of Council’s statutory fire prevention obligations under the Country Fire Authority Act 1958 and the Fire Rescue Victoria Act 1958 . This is your chance to make a real difference, ensuring our community is safe, prepared, and resilient. What you’ll do: Lead Council’s Fire Prevention Program , conducting property inspections and managing compliance on private land. Issue Fire Prevention Notices and oversee enforcement processes. Support emergency management planning , including reviewing and approving wildfire plans submitted by developers. Engage with the community, responding to enquiries, educating residents on fire safety, and promoting voluntary compliance. Maintain accurate records and databases of fire hazards, inspections, and compliance actions. Contribute to strategic fire management planning, chair relevant sub-committees, and collaborate with Municipal Emergency Management Officers. What we’re looking for: Tertiary qualifications in Emergency Management, Planning , or a related discipline. Strong knowledge of the Emergency Management Act 2013 , CFA Act 1958 , and associated regulations. Experience in local government emergency management and community engagement. Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgement. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills .
