About the role The Media Manager is responsible for managing and executing media relations to enhance the public image and communication efforts of the Inner West Council. This senior role will involve creating media content, overseeing media relations, monitoring social media platforms and crafting messaging that aligns with the Council’s goals and policy initiatives. The Media Manager will be a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of political communications and media landscapes. The role will report to the Senior Manager Communications and Engagement and will be the primary point of contact for media inquiries and liaison with Mayor and Councillors. Remuneration A competitive remuneration commensurate to the duties and responsibilities of the role will be negotiable with the successful candidate. This position will have access to Council's motor vehicle lease back scheme. Tertiary qualifications in disciplines relevant to the role or equivalent industry experience in a similar role Extensive experience in managing strategic communication, public affairs and/or media functions in a large organisation Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of local government, in particular the social, political and legal frameworks within which it operates Demonstrated expertise in media relations, including pitching stories and handling media inquiries Strong writing, editing, and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives Experience managing social media platforms for a political entity or organisation Strong understanding of political messaging and public relations strategies Enquiries Rachael Durrant, Senior Manager Communications and Engagement on Closing Date Sunday 23 November 2025, 11:30PM To subscribe to our weekly job alert emails please click here How to Apply We recommend you read the Position Description for the role to make sure your application addresses the requirements of the position.
