This apprenticeship opportunity to join our Water and Sewer team and help maintain the water infrastructure of the Central Coast local government area. Central Coast Council is excited to offer an apprenticeship opportunity to a motivated person who has a keen interest in gaining hands on work experience and technical training as a qualified crew member. The objective of our program is for you to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to complete the program, with a view to establishing a career as a Crew Member Water and Sewer. Work in a dynamic and customer focused environment. We provide a supportive learning environment with the opportunity to gain "hands on" experience and technical training. Role includes working on operational maintenance, repair and construction activities to support water and sewerage infrastructure including water and sewer mains and fittings, reservoirs, pumping stations and vacuum systems working across the Local Government Area. Challenging, interesting and fulfilling work. Work 38 hours per week and balance your life with a 9 day fortnight. About the Program You will commence as a first year apprentice and will be trained under the instruction of a suitably qualified supervisor. As your experience grows, you may be required to rotate between job locations to further extend your experience across a broad range of work experience for the duration of the program. Council offers an excellent development program with exposure to many elements of the job throughout the course. The Central Coast Council Apprenticeship program requires successful applicants to enter a training contract for 36 months commencing in January 2025. Interviews for this position will be held during the week beginning Monday, 8 December 2025. You will be provided with individual training plans and are required to undertake and complete a trade qualification at either a NSW TAFE campus or through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). These positions are required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community. To be successful in an Apprenticeship you will have: Minimum education requirement - Year 10 School Certificate or Record of School Achievement (RoSA) or equivalent leaving certificate. Please note: Current Year 10 students are eligible to apply and if successful in selection it will be based on the provision that they complete the Year 10 RoSA and provide documentation prior to commencement in position. A General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or equivalent OR are willing to obtain this card. A current Class C or Provisional P1 or P2 Driver's Licence or similar or are willing to obtain at the legal age to acquire licence. A keen interest in developing your skills and work experience in the Civil and/or Water industries. Gained practical experience and/or have knowledge or be undertaking additional relevant learning in the area. A passion for the importance of being a team player in a highly team focused organisation. A commitment in completing the required studies. A willingness to learn from others to further your career. Strong customer service skills with an ability to provide the best quality service to the Central Coast. About the Role Work with relevant tools, plant and equipment to complete work tasks relevant to the position. Assist in undertaking and resolving works with regard to minimisation of disruption, customer inconvenience, safety and environmental impact. Operate plant and equipment required to carry out duties where relevant tickets have been obtained. This may include excavators, tippers, electrical and pneumatic power tools, power saws, tampers and chainsaws etc. Have an ability and willingness to work after hours as required and to respond to call outs and incidents in a timely manner (within 1 hour on site). Other important information The salary range for these positions sit between $482 to $827.40 per week ($25,131.48 to $43,140.64 per annum) dependent on age and school qualifications + 12% Superannuation Temporary full-time role (up to 36 months duration) This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight The role is primarily located in Woy Woy Depot The successful candidate may be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.
