CMQ Geotechnics is a geotechnical consulting firm providing specialist geotechnical services since 2024. We are currently working on an exciting project portfolio and have an attractive pipeline with large clients within the energy, transport and mining sectors. We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex geotechnical projects, provide expert technical advisory, and contribute to the successful delivery of major infrastructure, quarrying or land development projects. As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in mentoring junior engineers, managing client relationships, and ensuring the highest standards of geotechnical engineering practice. This role will involve the following: Responsibilities Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including fieldwork, laboratory testing, and analysis. Prepare and review geotechnical reports, design recommendations, and risk assessments. Providing technical expertise and support in geotechnical design and analysis for complex civil and mining projects. Conduct geotechnical design and analysis, including geotechnical model development, foundation design, and slope stability analysis. Planning, coordinating, and managing field investigations for a wide variety of residential, industrial and infrastructure projects. Assist in the management and delivery of the geotechnical aspects of projects, ensuring that deliverables meet client expectations and are completed on time and within budget. Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians. Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations. Adherence to relevant Work Health and Safety requirements. Office-based role in our Melbourne office, with travel to and from client sites as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree (Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering) or higher CPEng preferable but not essential Minimum of eight years working as a Geotechnical Engineer Well-developed knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, and geotechnical engineering analysis. Experience in using analysis, design and problem-solving software such as Slide 2, Dips, Swedge, Rocplane etc. Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Strong time management experience Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
