CSIRO Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Postgraduate Scholarships Join CSIRO as part of this exclusive scholarship opportunity, designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander postgraduate STEM students. CSIRO invites the first 25 applicants to apply and becomes a community of leading scientists and engineers. Opportunities CSIRO offers several types of postgraduate studentships: CSIRO Sponsored Postgraduate Studentships – CSIRO pays a primary scholarship stipend and/or top‑up stipend, covers learning and development and ensures operating expenses for a postgraduate student working on a CSIRO‑defined project. CSIRO‑University Co‑funded Postgraduate Studentships – CSIRO and a university co‑fund a primary and/or top‑up scholarship for a student working on a co‑funded collaborative CSIRO‑University project. CSIRO Supervised‑only Postgraduate Studentships – CSIRO provides the student with access to facilities and/or expertise to complete work that directly contributes to their PhD or Master thesis. The student should be a recipient of an external primary scholarship. Industry PhD (iPhD) Studentships – The student undertakes a PhD project supervised by an industry partner in partnership with CSIRO, a university and the industry partner. The student receives a primary scholarship stipend, a top‑up stipend, funds for learning and development and operating expenses. CSIRO Postgraduate Internships – University‑approved internships where CSIRO supervises a postgraduate student working on a short‑term CSIRO‑defined project for work experience as part of their degree. Current Postgraduate Studentship Vacancies Applicants may pursue a scholarship in the following fields: Chemistry – organic synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, natural products, drug discovery, polymer chemistry, inorganic chemistry. Biology – cell biology, microbiology, biological assays, biologics, vaccines. Engineering – medical devices, biomaterials, sensors, energy applications, material science. Pharmacology. Physiology. Virology. Agricultural science. Environmental science. Soil science. Eligibility CSIRO considers the filling of these scholarships an affirmative measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth). Scholarships are open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people with Australian citizenship. Successful candidates must provide evidence confirming their Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status. Flexible Working Arrangements CSIRO offers a range of flexibly arranged options for how, when and where you work. Location Any CSIRO site in Australia. Stipend Will vary depending on studentship opportunity. Tenure Specified term of up to 3 years (various lengths available depending on degree). Reference 95591.
