About the Role As the Site Project Manager for the Heating Furnace – Plate Mill project at BlueScope's Port Kembla site, you will oversee the full on‑site execution of this large‑scale industrial installation. Responsible for the project's commercial, technical, safety, and contractual success, you will oversee daily site operations, coordinate teams, and ensure full HSE and quality standards. Working closely with the Fives Services Site Supervisor and the project headquarters in France, you will monitor progress, control budgets, and manage claims to ensure milestones are met and deliverables achieved. This role requires a hands‑on leader with strong project management, negotiation, and contract skills who can guide a multicultural team through all stages of the project to successful completion. It will be a residential role and is due to commence mid‑February 2025 for 16 months. Possible travel to France and other sites may be considered. Your Responsibilities Daily Administration Oversee Quality Assurance and Safety with support from the back office in France Manage site schedules Ensure compliance with Fives and client HSE rules Verify stakeholder awareness of the Prevention Plan and risk analysis Ensure use of mandatory PPE Support administrative tasks (timesheets, invoicing, claims) Reporting Lines Reports to the Fives Stein Installation Manager (about 10 months), then to the Commissioning Manager (6 months) Functional reporting to the Project Director based in France Internal Relations Project team and internal stakeholders QA team & HSE Manager (France) Engineering Department (France) External Relations Client Other subsidiaries of the Steel & Glass Division Subcontractors Reporting Daily coordination with site team Regular reporting to management and headquarters: updates on progress, issues, and claims Share site feedback and information Presentation of risk analyses, claim strategies, and opportunity identification Project Schedule Monitoring & Man‑Day Budget Monitoring Track progress, identify delays, propose corrective actions Coordinate with site teams to meet deadlines Track actual vs. forecasted man‑days (control labour costs within budget) Contract Compliance Ensure all contractual obligations are met Identify deviations and potential claims (modifications, delays, quality issues) Negotiate and resolve claims Notify and document design changes impacting cost or schedule Submit related claims To be considered for this role you will have Strong knowledge of construction contracts and international standards Negotiation and conflict resolution skills Experience in project management and budget control Proven claim management experience in industrial projects (steel sector preferred) Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders Technical Skills Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project Reporting in English (French optional) Knowledge of QA/HSE standards Familiarity with steel industry and technical domains (mechanical, piping, refractories, instrumentation, CAD, P&ID) Communication Skills Autonomous with strong teamwork spirit Leadership in multicultural environments Customer‑focused and business‑oriented Ready to Apply?
