About the Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to play a pivotal role in supporting EnergyCo’s mission to deliver the NSW Government’s ambitious electricity infrastructure agenda. As Senior Financial Accountant, you will operate as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and the Chief Financial Officer, contributing high-quality financial management, analysis and reporting within a collaborative Finance team. You will help ensure the organisation’s operational and commercial outcomes are achieved in a compliant, ethical and strategically sound manner, while upholding NSW public sector values and influencing decisions that shape the future of the state’s energy system. About You Ideally, you bring deep knowledge of NSW Government Sector finance legislation, directions and policies, alongside a strong command of Australian Accounting Standards. With a proven track record delivering high-quality financial reports, budgets and project performance insights, you are confident operating in environments with constrained funding envelopes and complex cashflow requirements. Your ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable advice ensures stakeholders are always equipped to make informed decisions. Highly skilled in the technical delivery of financial accounting, you excel in preparing monthly journals, internal and external reporting packs, managing stakeholder queries, reviewing reconciliations and overseeing general ledger integrity. You are an experienced user of the Prime system and understand the NSW Treasury reporting and budgeting processes. With a can-do attitude, you thrive during year-end, coordinating early close and audit processes, preparing statutory financial statements, liaising with external auditors and implementing recommendations with diligence. Your strengths include developing accounting policies, managing compliance with professional and statutory standards, enhancing financial systems and controls and fostering strong, collaborative relationships, The above skills will ensure you are able to contribute meaningfully to a positive, high‑performing team culture. The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy. EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
