Philanthropy and Engagement Manager – The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Drive the growth and visibility of Australia’s leading general practice research foundation Lead fundraising, philanthropy and partnerships to improve the health of communities nationwide Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide or Brisbane based Impact of the organisation This is an outstanding opportunity to join the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) – the peak professional body representing GPs across Australia – and lead the growth of its philanthropic arm, the Australian General Practice Research Foundation. The organisation supports more than 40,000 GPs and helps deliver care to over two million Australians every week. The Foundation unites the RACGP’s research and philanthropic functions; supporting research that informs policy and improves patient outcomes. The Foundation Growth & Engagement team drives growth by raising and distributing funds to support GP-led research across Australia. This team plays a crucial role in implementing the Foundation’s strategy – growing revenue, increasing visibility, and deepening engagement with GPs, donors, partners, and the broader community. Impact you will have in this role As Philanthropy and Engagement Manager, you will play a pivotal role in advancing general practice research that strengthens clinical standards, informs policy, education and practice, and improves patient outcomes. You’ll lead a small, high‑performing team to deliver innovative fundraising programs, build trusted relationships with donors and partners, and drive revenue to fund world‑class GP‑led research. Reporting to the Research & Foundation Manager, you will shape and deliver the Foundation’s growth and engagement strategy. Your leadership will drive revenue, visibility, and influence – achieving ambitious income and engagement targets and helping expand the reach and impact of GP‑led research. A trusted relationship‑builder with strong strategic and commercial acumen, you’ll harness your philanthropic expertise to develop a new gift‑in‑will programme, open new funding opportunities, and secure philanthropic partnerships that directly improve healthcare outcomes. This role offers the chance to directly influence national healthcare outcomes through philanthropy. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of the Foundation’s fundraising programmes and campaigns, including bequest and major gifts programmes, events, donor appeals, and regular giving initiatives. Lead prospect research, pipeline development, and identify new funding opportunities, including new philanthropic and corporate partnerships. Provide strategic direction and oversight of donor stewardship, engagement strategies and relationship management to maximise long‑term support. Oversee Foundation events and promotional initiatives to enhance visibility and engagement. Work with internal teams to identify and capitalise on opportunities to promote the Foundation’s campaigns and impact. Oversee development of communications and collateral showcasing the Foundation’s work and impact. Support the development and management of the Foundation’s growth strategy, risk management and budgeting. Build, mentor and lead the Foundation Growth & Engagement team to achieve high performance and professional growth. Manage supporter and prospect data accurately in RACGP’s systems. Support ads lead the implementation of a new fundraising CRM system. Analyse fundraising results and donor insights to inform strategy and decision‑making. Ensure compliance with fundraising policies and funder reporting requirements and provide regular reporting to the Foundation Committee and senior leadership. Represent the Foundation in philanthropic forums and stakeholder engagements. Occasional travel for meetings, events and other activities as required. Skills and Experience Demonstrated experience in fundraising with a strong record of achieving financial targets. Proven success growing major gift, bequest or partnership programmes, securing six‑figure gifts and building robust donor pipelines. Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing budgets and driving sustainable income growth. Strategic thinker with hands‑on execution capability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to craft compelling cases for support. Collaborative leadership style with experience managing and mentoring teams. High‑level knowledge of contemporary fundraising trends and compliance requirements. Experience in health, higher education, primary care or research environments desirable. Demonstrated resilience in large, complex organisations desirable. Passion for using philanthropy to advance healthcare and research. Applications Please apply by uploading your resume.
