Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.The organisation will drive delivery of world-class pumped hydro assets to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future. The Senior Dams Project Engineer will play a key role in the planning and onsite delivery of all works associated with theconstruction of the new Borumba Dam and decommissioning of the existing Borumba Dam.It is also expected the role of Senior Dams Project Engineer will work closely alongside our delivery partners, the existing dam operator and the Queensland dam safety regulator to foster a collaborative working culture to ensure best for project outcomes are achieved including positive HS&E outcomes.The Senior Dams Project Engineer accountabilities are.Prepare monthly reports against plan, identifying variations and corrective action if requiredOrdering materials in accordance with scope and programmed requirements.Ensure safety and quality programs are established by all parties and maintained and conduct reviews of detailed design drawing and specifications.Conduct on-site safety and progress inspections to ensure engineering standards are met.Assist with project QA/QC and commissioning systems and documentation.Liaising with the Project Director, Senior Project Manager and Project Manager to keep informed of all developments associated with the project.Provide leadership and support to the project engineers and graduates.These responsibilities will include oversight of technical aspects, development and implementation of project plans/reporting and ensuring overall project quality is maintained to a high standard via inspection, testing and verification activities.About youYou will hold the following attributes but not limited to,Degree in Civil Engineering.Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland or eligible to obtain within six (6) months.Formal training or accreditation in project management (AIPM, PMI or equivalent) or construction management.Minimum of 7 years post graduate engineering experience.Significant direct dam project experience (5+ years) from a dam safety, project delivery and/or operations background.Competent in the evaluation and interpretation of data.Strong technical report writing with clear verbal communication skills.Capable of presenting ideas and working collaboratively within the team.Knowledge of relevant Codes and Australian Standards.Good working knowledge of WHS Act and Regulations.Enthusiasm towards learning and major civil construction activities.Direct experience in delivery of roller compacted concrete or other dam type construction and upgrades is highly regarded.Experience in delivering major infrastructure projects within Government owned entities.Working at Queensland HydroQueensland Hydro is an equal opportunity employer, and our people strategy focuses on balanced leadership, values diverse backgrounds, and fosters a culture of inclusion.What we offer12.75% superannuationHealth and Wellbeing initiatives, which include our Employee Assistance Program, Mates in Construction Membership, and discounted health insurance.14 weeks paid Parental LeaveHow to ApplyTo play a key role in one of Australia’s most significant energy investments please don’t hesitate to apply via our LiveHire Portal by clicking the ‘Apply’ link.
