You will report to the Design & Drafting Manager and form part of a small, supportive, and energetic team. We are looking for a Designer with a minimum of 2 years' experience working on a varied complexity of projects, including split levels, 2‑storey and unit / infill development projects. The role will be predominately supporting our New Choice Development Team completing unit and infill projects, therefore experience with this type of design work is preferable. We need the successful candidate to excel in design work, producing high‑quality design sketches on complex projects, in a timely manner and with a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities Ensuring a high level of quality and accurate design sketches at all times. Taking sole responsibility of large projects, including overall projects for our major development clients. Effectively and efficiently designing new sketches for single‑storey, double‑storey and multi‑unit developments, all with a varying degree of complexity. Liaising with Sales Consultants and other relevant departments to overcome design and construction issues to achieve effective design concepts with good construction practice. Liaising with Estimating to develop the most cost‑effective designs. Ensuring NCC requirements and R codes are met on all projects. Assisting management in the development and design of new standard product. Qualifications A minimum of 3 years' experience within the WA residential building market. Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office Suite and advanced skills in ArchiCAD Software (currently running V27). Have a thorough understanding of Local Government Planning Policies / Developer Guidelines, Building Codes of Australia, and recently updated R Codes. Ability to be able to complete a design sketch for a Sales Consultant in an efficient and effective manner, paying close attention to budget and client design brief. Understanding that the design produced has a huge impact on budget and knowing when budget is critical and when costly design features can be incorporated into the design. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet assigned timeframes and deadlines. High attention to detail especially when completing and checking design work. Comprehensive experience in ALL types of residential projects such as 1st home buyers / unit developments / 2‑storey projects that vary in complexity.
