Then Climate Defenders Australia (CDA) wants to hear from you CDA is a first-of-its-kind, not-for-profit community legal service that specialises in defending frontline climate and environmental defenders against criminal charges. We also engage in strategic litigation to protect the participation of environmental and climate defenders through the abuse of legal processes, including responding to Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP). In addition, we provide legal information, education and other support to the community to advance and protect the natural environment, and advocate for law reform in areas relevant to our legal practice. About the role We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our small team, overseeing long-term projects and ensuring efficient daily administration, scheduling, human resources, finance and task management. Responsibilities Manage contracts with external providers, liaising directly with contractors such as IT providers. Support the Executive Director and Bookkeeper with financial management of CDA, including accounts payable, receivable and payroll. Project manage grant applications, ensuring fundraising consultants and CDA’s executive team meet application deadlines. Compile reports and executive summaries for the board, the Executive Director or external stakeholders. Manage the Executive Director’s calendar, appointments and scheduling. Support the board by consolidating board papers, compiling requests from the board and responding to enquiries from directors. Support CDA’s social media accounts; creating and posting content, responding to comments and monitoring incoming messages. Promote a respectful workplace with a values-driven culture. Qualifications / Selection Criteria Passion for social justice and social change, focusing on climate justice. High level experience in office management. Demonstrable experience in project management. Experience in providing administrative assistance to an executive or senior management role. Ability to prioritise tasks according to need, meet deadlines and work at a fast pace when required. Ability to work autonomously and in teams. Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to manage and organise files and documents. High level of proficiency with technology. Previous experience working in a Community Legal Centre, or an environmental or human rights NGO. Experience working directly with communities and clients experiencing human rights violations. Experience managing social media accounts. Experience working with LEAP. Experience in human resources management.
