Position: Research Fellow – Health Economist UNSW Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. We invite applications for a full‑time, 3‑year fixed‑term position with potential extension. Key Details Employment Type: Full‑time (35 hours a week) Duration: 3‑year fixed term with possibility of extension Remuneration: $127,947—$150,831 base salary, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading Visa Sponsorship: International candidates willing to relocate may be considered for visa sponsorship on a merit‑based basis Location: Hybrid – on‑site minimum 3 days a week at UNSW's Kensington Campus, NSW, Australia About the Kirby Institute The Kirby Institute is a world‑leading health research institute at UNSW Sydney, focusing on eliminating infectious diseases, particularly in the most at‑risk communities. Role Summary As a Research Fellow in Health Economics, you will partner with economists, epidemiologists, mathematical modelers and social scientists to evaluate public health interventions targeting infectious diseases, with an emphasis on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in Africa and the Pacific. You will conduct cost‑effectiveness and budget impact assessments alongside trials and programmatic implementation of mass drug administration regimens, including moxidectin, to control or eliminate NTDs such as onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis. You will also evaluate financing mechanisms for sustainable investment in NTDs. Responsibilities Lead or co‑lead economic evaluations and budget impact assessments of public health interventions. Model long‑term health outcomes and costs of interventions. Ensure quality, integrity and security of project datasets. Assist in training and managing field teams in Australia and overseas. Communicate findings through project reports, conference presentations and peer‑reviewed publications, including as lead author. Essential Qualifications and Experience PhD or equivalent in health economics, public health, economics or related field with substantial experience in design or evaluation of public health interventions. Proficient in STATA and/or R for economic evaluations. Experience in modeling long‑term health outcomes and costs. Strong research output demonstrated by peer‑review publications, scientific presentations and successful funding applications. Ability to oversee project datasets and ensure data integrity. Desired Skills Experience evaluating interventions targeting NTDs. Experience working in low‑ and middle‑income countries or resource‑constrained settings.
