About The Role The Advisor is responsible for responding to the needs of clients accessing Cancer Council Queensland’s service, a telephone and e‑support service. You will provide information, emotional and practical support and referral to relevant internal support programmes and linkages to external support agencies for people impacted by cancer. You will deliver services in a culturally responsive manner, recognising and respecting the diverse lived experiences of people impacted by cancer, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. This role is a permanent part‑time or full‑time position with shifts from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. About You We are looking for candidates with experience working within an oncology care setting, and a demonstrated commitment to responsive practice that meets the needs of diverse priority populations. Experience working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities is highly valued. Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Tertiary qualifications in nursing or allied health Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration or membership of the respective professional body Demonstrated clinical experience in oncology Demonstrated understanding of culturally safe and responsive care, particularly in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples Experience working in partnership with First Nations communities or organisations to support health and wellbeing Awareness of the social determinants of health and how they impact cancer outcomes for diverse populations Demonstrated high‑level communication skills, including the ability to engage clients from diverse backgrounds in a range of cancer‑related issues and concerns Experience in client/patient assessment with the ability to provide immediate support and appropriate referral in relation to client need An understanding of the impact of diagnosis and treatment of cancer on people, their families and friends Post‑graduate qualifications in oncology would be highly regarded, but not essential We welcome and strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, people from a range of cultural and linguistic diverse backgrounds, people living with a disability, and LGBTIQA+ individuals.
