An opportunity is available for a Pricing Actuary to join our Pricing and Analytics team in a full‑time capacity for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract at our Sydney office with a hybrid working arrangement. This position will take a leading role in the Pricing and Analytics team in delivering Avant’s pricing and portfolio management. Avant is Australia’s leading medical defence organisation, protecting Australian medical professionals for over 130 years and currently representing 90,000 health practitioners and medical students. Key responsibilities include: Deliver actuarial analysis and performance monitoring to support product pricing, portfolio management and optimisation of risk intervention outcomes. Provide other actuarial and analytical services to the broader Avant business as required. Assist the Medical Indemnity Division to advance the commerciality of the general insurance business and achieve sustainable growth of the insurance portfolios while proactively reducing claims costs. Mentor and develop junior team members and maintain strong internal client relationships, ensuring quality, transparency and consistency of actuarial advice. Support the development of the Pricing and Analytics team’s vision and the delivery of Avant’s approach to technical support for pricing and portfolio management, including reporting, monitoring and analysis. Ideal candidate: Associate or Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia. Experience in general insurance (highly regarded). Actuarial pricing and long‑tailed claims valuation experience.
