Domestic Violence Action Centre – Toowoomba QLD We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sexual Violence Counsellor to join our Specialist Sexual Violence Services team in Toowoomba. In this full‑time role, you will provide specialist sexual violence counselling, case management and advocacy supports to individuals and their families who are or have experienced all forms of sexual violence. The Sexual Violence Counsellor plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of exceptional client services, while also fostering a positive and supportive work environment and contributing to our broader advocacy. Key Responsibilities Provide trauma‑informed counselling and therapeutic support to individuals (aged 12+) who have experienced sexual violence. Deliver individual and group counselling for adults, children, and young people. Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis intervention as needed. Advocate for clients, ensuring access to appropriate support services. Collaborate with other service providers to facilitate integrated service delivery. Maintain compliance with professional standards, including the QLD Government Interagency Guidelines for Responding to Adult Victims of Sexual Assault. Provide outreach and school‑based services as required. Maintain case notes, reports, and data collection in line with DVAC procedures. Engage in reflective practice and professional supervision. Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive work environment. Uphold DVAC’s commitment to social justice. About You Possession of relevant tertiary qualifications and a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in the human services field. Experience in counselling or trauma‑informed support, including risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis intervention. Understanding of gender‑based violence and intersectional feminist practice. Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities. Group facilitation experience (highly regarded). IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office and client management systems.
