Child & Family Counsellor | Specialist Child and Family Program | Caboolture UnitingCare Queensland invites applications for the Child & Family Counsellor role as part of our FaDS (Family and Disability Services) team. Our FaDS team works passionately across Queensland to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Position Aims Increase the stability of out‑of‑home care placements by providing emotional support and practical assistance to children, young people aged 3‑18 and their carers. Provide psycho‑education and skill development to carers during times of distress or disruptive behaviours. Key Responsibilities Provide individual, child‑centred therapy. Support children in developing life and social skills. Supply support and psycho‑education to carers and stakeholders to increase parenting skills and build stronger relationships. Prepare high‑quality written reports and case notes. Facilitate warm referrals to other services in collaboration with Child Safety. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree or higher in Counselling, Psychology, Social Sciences or Social Work. Demonstrated knowledge of childhood development and relationship‑building strategies, particularly related to trauma, abuse and attachment. Experience or qualifications in Child‑Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) highly desirable. Current driver’s licence. Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
