Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+) in PICU and PaNDR The closing date is 17 December 2025 . Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+) in Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU) and Paediatric Retrieval (PaNDR) at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to commence as soon as possible for 12 months in the first instance. Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean's approval or training recognition but can be used as an Out-Of-Program for Experience (OOPE). Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of commencement is required. About us The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice. Job responsibilities The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU/HDU) is a tertiary level 13-bedded PICU. It is the only Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU) in the East of England region and it is a PICM Grid Training Unit, well known as a centre of excellence, a stronghold in research, trials and neuroscience. Trainees from other specialties who want to boost their paediatric critical care experience rotate to this unit with great feedback and many learning opportunities. Paediatric Retrieval (PaNDR) is a newly established service that serves the region of East of England (EoE). This Service is co‑located with the existing Neonatal Service based at Addenbrookes Hospital and serves 15 large non‑paediatric specialist district general hospitals in addition to Addenbrookes Hospital. The service is fully equipped with 4 high fidelity Ambulances and fully staffed with qualified Ambulance Technicians. The post holder will participate on the Middle Grade rota which is a full shift pattern and regulated by the European working time directive (EWTD). Support for study and professional leaves are built in the job plan and participation in research and audit activities is strongly encouraged, although the training opportunities associated with this post will be equal to those for the Specialty Registrars in the department.
