Job Type: Permanent position | Full time position Job Description On behalf of our client (Northern Stevedoring Services Pty Ltd), we are advertising. Northern Stevedoring Services is looking for a full time Mechanical Tradesman (Fitter) to join their team in Queensland. This position provides safe and cost-effective repair and maintenance of mobile equipment and fixed assets for NSS. Job Duties:Diagnose faults and carry out efficient mechanical corrective action on vehicles, machinery and equipment to minimize equipment failure, lack of availability and possible delays. Diagnose electrical faults and fit electrical accessories to vehicles. Diagnose and repair automotive air conditioning systems. Ensure handovers are informative and efficient to support maintenance continuity. Repair and maintain mobile equipment within required safety and operational guidelines. Equipment may include but not limited to: Dozer, Front End Loader, Excavator, Forklifts, Skid steer, Trucks, Cranes. Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts and repairing electrical wiring and computer based equipment. Skill and Qualifications Essential Current C class drivers’ license MSIC or the ability to obtain one Relevant trade qualification Desirable Post Trade courses pertinent to mobile machinery repair, diagnosis and maintenance Occupational license pertaining to equipment being repaired Elevated work platform license (WP) - high risk Forklift license – high risk Experience, Knowledge and Personal Attributes Demonstrated commitment to NSS’s values of ethical behaviour, focus on customers, focus on people and commitment to excellence. Experience and knowledge of heavy machinery repair and maintenance Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Ability to work autonomously, exercise initiative and maturity Ability to work willingly and effectively in a team environment Willingness and ability to work a flexible roster with call out requirements Ability to read and understand schematic drawings.
