With a dedicated team of experts and in-house resources, we excel in civil construction for both underground and overhead works. Our mission is to install, upgrade, repair, and maintain service lines, ensuring seamless connectivity between residential and commercial properties and the electricity distribution network. Syscon is seeking an experienced and dynamic Civil worker to join our team. Qualifications & experience Current driver's license and Construction White Card Must be committed to Workplace Health and Safety and company policies General Civil / pipelaying experience in Australia Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar industry HR Truck License Experienced in use of plants/excavators around services Current or previous experience working in the electricity supply industry Working knowledge of Electricity Act & Regulations, Workplace Health & Safety Act and Regulations, and other relevant statutory acts & regulations Tasks & responsibilities You will work safely near live electrical apparatus as well as operating plant and equipment safely near live electrical conductors and apparatus. Inspect the work area: Ensure the site is free from obstacles, and hazards are identified (e.g., utility lines). Set up safety barriers and signage: Use warning signs, cones, and safety barriers to protect workers and the public. Excavate the trench: Manually or using machinery, dig the trench to the required depth and width according to plans. Check for underground utilities: Ensure no existing utilities like water, gas, or telecom lines are disturbed during excavation. Excavate in sections: Work in manageable sections for manual digging. Unroll and lay the cable: Manually or with equipment, lay the cable along the trench, ensuring it's free from twists or kinks. Backfill trench: Once the cable is laid, backfill the trench with soil, ensuring even distribution. Site Restoration: Restore the site to its original state (e.g., replace grass or landscaping if disturbed). The company will organize and cover the costs of essential training for successful candidates to enhance their industry knowledge and satisfy mandatory training requirements. We are committed to continuous employee upskilling and will provide opportunities for promotion upon successful completion of designated training levels.
