Job Description Quick overview of the role We are currently seeking an Operator/Loader to join the afternoon shift in Bar in a full-time permanent capacity working a standard 38hr week. This role is responsible for operating to cut and bend steel into structural shapes, specified by work order, drawings, templates or layout as relevant to the machine. If loading, you will also ensure that all loads are quality inspected and tagged prior to loading. What will you be doing? Set up and operate machinery to cut and bend steel into structural shapes, specified by work order, drawings, templates or layout as relevant to the relevant machine. Monitor the production process and adjust as needed to ensure that the rebar shapes are produced to the required specifications. Follow all safety protocols and procedures related to operating the off‑coil machine, including wearing appropriate safety gear, handling materials safely, and ensuring that the machine is operated in a safe and responsible manner. Conducting pre‑start checks on all equipment and machinery before it is used. Reporting any faults to your supervisor immediately. Responsible for operation, loading and unloading steel bars, operating controls, setting bend angles and inspection of quality parts in accordance with requirements. Operating all machine and using any relevant equipment in a safe manner as stated in the TAP. Arrange machine at the beginning of the shift to ensure that everything is in order. Select all layouts, templates and check fixtures. Select all tools and bending dies appropriately. Examine completed steel pieces for defects, such as chipped edges or any sort of defective pieces according to type of product. Place finished steel pieces on a rack or pallet with the tag prior to load in accordance with the schedule. Identify, properly tag and remove non‑conforming materials. Perform general clean‑up of the work area at the end of the shift including sweeping the floor and emptying the bins. Desired Skills and Experience What are we looking for in the successful candidate? Physically fit and able to operate machinery. Interest in machinery and production.
