The role reports directly to the Director. Job Details Title: Motor Mechanic (General) Location: Malvern Auto Group Pty Ltd, Malvern, Victoria 3144 Job Type: Permanent full‑time Hours: 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Annual Salary: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 + super Benefits Competitive salary package Supportive team environment Career growth opportunities Opportunity to work in a well‑equipped workshop Responsibilities Diagnosing Mechanical Issues: Use diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues with motor vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, suspension, and braking systems. Performing Repairs: Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty parts and systems, ensuring all work meets the manufacturer’s specifications and safety standards. Routine Maintenance: Carry out regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections to keep vehicles in top condition. Testing and Adjustments: Test vehicle systems and components to ensure proper operation, making necessary adjustments to enhance performance. Customer Service: Communicate effectively with customers to explain repair and maintenance needs, providing estimates and obtaining approval for work to be performed. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed, including parts used and time taken, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. Workplace Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others in the workshop. Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Keep tools and equipment in good working order, performing regular checks and maintenance as needed. Other ad hoc duties and accountability. Qualifications & Experience Minimum of a relevant Certificate IV in Motor Mechanics or equivalent substantial experience. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. Clear communication skills. Experience Requirement At least 1 year of experience as a motor mechanic. Essential Skills & Requirements Demonstrated light vehicle repair, service and maintenance skills including a solid understanding of petrol, engines, suspension, transmission, steering and braking systems. Ability to read and interpret a broad range of vehicle service manuals. Ability to use computers for the purpose of diagnosing faults and testing vehicle parts. Ability to work effectively under pressure. Ability to prioritise workload to ensure customer and management deadlines are met. Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical mechanical issues to a broad audience. Passion for your trade.
