Huon Aquaculture is seeking a skilledSenior Environmental Compliance Officerto manage and support our environmental and regulatory obligations. This role blends technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, and strategic insight to ensure our operations meet and exceed compliance standards. The Role As Senior Environmental Compliance Officer, you will: Advise on strategic marine, shore-based, freshwater, and processing compliance and environmental management across Huon’s operations Drive stakeholder engagement on licensing and compliance matters Conduct internal compliance audits, adapting to evolving regulatory and operational conditions Interpret legislation and provide timely, accurate compliance reporting for decision-making and regulatory purposes Maintain and evolve Huon’s Environmental Management Framework Prepare and present documentation for, internal teams, regulators, and stakeholders Support training initiatives to increase operational environmental compliance awareness Support community and government engagement on environmental matters Key Responsibilities Maintain environmental databases, dashboards, alerts, registers, licenses, and documentation using technology to drive efficiency and innovation. Identify gaps and areas for improvement, and mitigate risks related to non-compliance and regulatory breaches Communicate results to middle and upper management and lead internal environmental committees and reporting cycles Guide site teams on best practice and continuous improvement Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies including EPA,NRET, MAST, Councils, and other interested parties Ensure all activities align with Huon’s and JBS’ environmental, health and safety, and quality standards About You You’re a confident and collaborative professional with: Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Aquaculture, or a related field Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental compliance and auditing Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship-building skills Proven ability to interpret complex legislation and deliver practical compliance solutions Excellent time management and communication skills Integrity, initiative, and the ability to work independently Flexibility to travel in Tasmania across Huon’s interests Why Join Huon?
