The Team The Audiology service at the Royal Hobart Hospital continues to grow and new opportunities have arisen, with more hours available for a highly motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic Diagnostic Audiologist to join our team working in Diagnostic and Cochlear Implant Audiology. Tasmania’s largest public teaching hospital provides a wide range of acute, sub‑acute and specialised services and is centrally located, close to public transport and a short walk to the CBD. The Role As part of the multidisciplinary Statewide Audiology Service, the Diagnostic Audiologist provides high‑level audiological diagnosis and management to adults and children referred to the service, and manages day‑to‑day operations of the Audiology component of the Tasmanian Cochlear Implant Program and Tasmanian Newborn Hearing Screening Program. Key Responsibilities Provide high‑level audiological diagnosis and management to adults and children referred to the service. Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Audiology component of the Tasmanian Cochlear Implant Program and Tasmanian Newborn Hearing Screening Program: Provide cochlear implant assessments and rehabilitation to children and adults. Undertake infant diagnostic assessments. Provide information and advice to patients and families on suitability of available treatment options, including implantable technology. Qualifications Broad knowledge and demonstrated clinical expertise in paediatric audiological assessment, management and rehabilitation, including assessment of infants and children with additional disabilities. Proven experience in fitting and monitoring amplification and assistive hearing technology, including Cochlear Implants. Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative and manage a complex caseload without supervision. Appointment Details One permanent full‑time and one permanent part‑time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Salary $110,425 to $119,290 per annum (pro rata). 12% superannuation contribution is included. Salary range is in accordance with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022. Salary Packaging & Allowances Access to living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year. Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum. Additional benefits include travel and relocation assistance (up to $15,000 for overseas applicants and $10,000 for interstate applicants), professional development and accelerated pathways, a range of leave entitlements, and a Fitness Passport providing access to more than 40 fitness facilities across Tasmania. Eligibility Completion of an appropriate course of study from a recognised tertiary institution and eligibility for full membership of Audiology Australia. Current Working with Children Registration.
