Firm Overview We are a boutique law firm that specializes in succession planning, related property law, retirement living, farm succession, wills, powers of attorney and deceased estates. We are looking for an experienced lawyer (minimum 3 years PQE (or comparable) experience in property law) who can provide insightful legal counsel and ensure seamless operations across all property matters. Position Details Part time or full time hours will be considered with flexibility for some remote work. Key Responsibilities Manage a diverse caseload of residential, commercial and farm property transactions relating to sale, purchase and restructuring of land holdings, gain knowledge of the nuances of retirement village contracts and village operational issues and expertly handle commercial and farm leasing agreements. Work closely with the Director, who will provide guidance, together with a team of two paralegals. Build lasting client relationships, earning their trust through clear communication, strategic advice, and commitment to achieving their property goals. Core Functions of the Role Transactional Prowess: Exposure to all manner of property transactions, including legal implications of property ownership and structures (trusts, complex SRO applications, trust and SMSF ownership, subdivisions, easements, property finance, adverse possession, covenants, water entitlements and caveats). Conveyancing Mastery: Oversee the entire conveyancing process for residential, commercial and farm properties, from initial due diligence and contract drafting/review to managing settlements (including PEXA) and post‑settlement requirements. Regular prior use of PEXA is required. Retirement Village Insight: Ensure the smooth operation of our retirement village operator contract process, navigate occupancy issues and variations during residency and at exit. Commercial & Farm Leasing Acumen: Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial and farm leases, and handle ancillary documents like assignments and surrenders.
