About the Role Wood is recruiting a Principal Technical Safety Engineer as part of our strategic growth plan for and beyond. You will join our Operations business in a pivotal role as we partner with a major player in the Oil Gas industry on a major brownfields Engineering Service Contract. Based in Perth CBD, this is a permanent role and is available on a full-time / part-time (job share) basis. Eligibility & Working Rights You will be able to work lawfully in Australia and hold full working rights for this location. Responsibilities & Qualifications Be recognized as an expert in Technical Safety or Process Safety or Risk and Safety engineering, applying advanced principles and techniques within a challenging, multi‑discipline environment. Lead people with several years of supervisory experience, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit, energising diverse teams, and driving safety‑oriented performance. Apply professional knowledge of regulatory frameworks, legislation, technical practices, codes, and standards. Be commercially astute with a solutions mindset, managing risk during the design process in alignment with safety, technical, and commercial requirements. Communicate effectively, both written and verbally, including technical report writing and professional presentations. Use MS Office applications, spreadsheets, and commercial engineering programs proficiently. Maintain a passion for energy security/transition, partnering with clients to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and optimisation. Build customer‑focused relationships with internal and external stakeholders, balancing operational excellence to contribute to the competitive advantage of #teamwood. Possess a recognised engineering degree and 12+ years of relevant design engineering experience within the Oil Gas production and/or processing industries. Have previous experience in a similar client‑facing leadership role on a major long‑term Engineering Service Contract in Brownfields Oil Gas.
