The Mission: At Andromeda Robotics, our mission is to empower robots with world-class audio capabilities that enable natural, intuitive, and robust human-robot interaction. As a Robotics Engineer (Audio Systems), you will drive the design and integration of advanced audio systems—spanning signal processing, microphone arrays, and conversational AI—to ensure our robots can perceive, interpret, and respond to the world through sound. Your work will be foundational in creating seamless, voice-driven experiences that bring our robots to life in dynamic, real-world environments. By collaborating across engineering, AI, and hardware teams, you will help set new standards for audio performance and user engagement in social robotics. What You\'ll Do Design, implement, and optimize audio signal processing pipelines for real-time robot interaction Develop and integrate microphone arrays, speaker systems, and audio hardware for robust speech capture and playback in noisy environments Collaborate with conversational AI and perception teams to ensure seamless integration of audio features (e.g., voice activity detection, speech enhancement, source separation, dynamic volume control) Build and maintain test infrastructure for audio quality, intelligibility, and system robustness (including multi-speaker and dynamic room acoustics scenarios) Analyse and improve audio system performance using data-driven approaches and real-world fleet data Contribute to simulation environments for audio testing and synthetic data generation Ideally You Hold a Bachelor\'s or Master\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Audio Engineering, or a related field 3+ years of experience in digital signal processing, embedded audio systems, or related fields Strong programming proficiency in Python and/or C++ Experience with audio frameworks (e.g., PipeWire, PortAudio), speech recognition, and/or machine learning for audio Familiarity with robotics middleware (e.g., ROS/ROS2) and integration of audio subsystems Experience with audio testing frameworks and CI/CD tools Bonus Points Experience with microphone array design, distributed systems, beamforming, and noise reduction Background in conversational AI, voice assistants, or social robotics Experience with simulation platforms for audio (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine) Experience with development for real-time systems Be part of a high-growth start-up from the early glory days with rapid growth opportunities Opportunities to engage with customers and investors, travel, and public speaking Opportunities to take on new challenges that provide exponential technical growth Join a passionate and dedicated crew of engineers with a shared love of robotics Make an outsized impact on the Australian robotics industry The salary for this position may vary depending on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
