About the NDIS Worker Check Directorate The NDIS Worker Check is a division of the OCG. It operates under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Worker Checks) Act 2018 (NSW). It screens workers that provide services and supports to people with disability (adults and children) under the NDIS and aims to support people with disability by preventing workers that pose a risk of harm from working with them. We gather information about a person’s history, such as their criminal and workplace records, and undertake an assessment as to whether they pose a risk of harm. About the role The Registration Officer determines an applicant’s eligibility to apply for an NDIS worker check. They obtain information from applicants to establish their identity; review information to determine if an applicant is already registered with the NDISWC. They assess whether the applicant meets the eligibility requirements to apply; analyse information and make recommendations about the probity of information, what further information may be required and the appropriate course of action. They also maintain and update a registrant’s personal information, provide customer support by responding to queries and triage incoming information. They demonstrate our values (fair, open, accountable, respectful). They are considered and decisive, technically competent, and have strong customer service skills. The Registration Officer conducts their role in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Key responsibilities Conduct timely and quality assessments of applications and applicant eligibility. Exercise judgement to determine the appropriateness of proof of identity information. Determine the appropriate course of action in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Ensure procedural fairness and a customer‑focused service is afforded to applicants. Make consistent, considered and evidence‑based recommendations. Ensure adherence to security, privacy and record‑keeping requirements to ensure accurate and safe collection, storage and use of confidential and sensitive information. This is an ongoing role in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013. Key knowledge and experience Demonstrated experience in data analysis and information assessment in a high‑volume and time‑constrained environment. Demonstrated experience in customer communication and engagement. Proven experience in administrative or regulatory decision making is preferred. Essential requirements A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or relevant workplace experience is required. All roles associated with the Office of the Children’s Guardian are required to have a current Working With Children Check. Employment at the Office of the Children’s Guardian is subject to satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.
